Chandigarh, Dec 2 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, said that youth participating in the 21st National Youth festival to be held at Rohtak from January 12 to 16, 2017, would be acquainted with the rich cultural heritage of the country, especially Haryana.
The Chief Minister was interacting with media persons after a meeting of the National Steering Committee for 21st National Youth Festival presided over by Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports (Independent Charge), Mr. Vijay Goel, at New Delhi today.
The Chief Minister said that about 6,000 youth from across the country would participate in this festival, during which several competitions related to art and culture would be held. The participants would be provided glimpses of the ancient and modern facets of Haryana, apart from Digital Haryana. They would also be acquainted with the culture, traditions and lifestyle of the State through a tour of rural areas. Inspirational programmes addressed by well-known motivators from across the country would be organised to motivate the youth to utilise their energy towards nation building.
He said that during the festival, Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, would get organised through different banks special camps for educating the youth about the advantages of and various methods for cashless transactions, including internet and mobile banking, he added.
He said that Haryana was celebrating the Golden Jubilee of its inception this year, under which programmes of national and international levels would be organised every month. International Gita Mahotsav-2016 is being organised at Kurukshetra from December 6 to 10. Apart from this, traditional wrestling tournament would also be organised during the National Youth Festival.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Mr. D.S. Dhesi, Additional Chief Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, Dr. K.K. Khandelwal, Director General of Police, Mr. K.P. Singh, Principal Resident Commissioner, Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi, Mr. Anand Mohan Sharan, Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister, Mr. Rajkumar Bhardwaj, Director, Sports and Youth Affairs, Dr. Jagdeep Singh, Commissioner, Rohtak Division, Mr. Chander Parkash, Deputy Commissioner, Rohtak, Mr. Atul Kumar, and other senior officers.
