Chandigarh, June 18 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, today urged the people of the State to celebrate ‘International Yoga Day’ on June 21 as a festival.
The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering on the second day of the five-day free ‘Yog Chikitsa Evam Dhyaan Shivir’ being organised in association with Yog guru, Baba Ramdev in the run up to ‘International Yoga Day’ in Faridabad. The Chief Minister also performed yoga along with Baba Ramdev on this occasion.
The Chief Minister said that it was two years ago that Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, proposed in the United Nations to dedicate one day to yoga, following which June 21 was declared as ‘International Yoga Day’ and 177 countries came forward to celebrate the day.
He said that this year, the Prime Minister, along with 31,000 ‘sadhaks’ from Haryana, would perform yoga at a national-level programme being organised in Chandigarh on June 21.
Describing the Chief Minister as a ‘karmayogi’, Baba Ramdev said that performing yoga was more beneficial than going to the gymnasium as it helped to make mind and soul healthy, along with the body.
