Chandigarh, August 17 –The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has asked the vice-chancellors to secure the future of the coming generations while making selection of the faculty in their respective educational institutions and lay greater emphasis on vocational education which is the need of the hour.
Speaking at the State Level Conference of Vice-Chancellors of state universities organized by the Higher Education Department, here today, he asked them to identify and analyze the areas for quality education so that the state could emerge as an education hub in real sense of the term.
He said the vice-chancellors served as head of university for a limited period of time, but the faculty they recommended for selection, rendered service for about 35 years in shaping the destiny of our future generations. The quality of education must be made base for the teaching, he said.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for transparency in the recruitment process and said that there should be no compromise on such issues. Good faculty is essential in higher education for providing quality education to the youth so that they could grow as good citizens of the state and the nation.
Describing employment-oriented education as the need of the hour, the Chief Minister said that universities should also lay emphasis on skill development of the youth so that they could become employable as per their expertise.
The Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Mr Vijai Vardhan, Director, Higher Education Mr Vikas Yadav, Vice-Chancellors of state universities and other officers of the department were also present on this occasion.
