Chandigarh Sept 12: Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal has expressed grief over the sad demise of freedom fighter, Mr Harnarayan, who was a member of Indian National Army (INA). Mr Harnarayan breathed his last yesterday due to cardiac arrest. A resident of village Mohdinpur in District Rewari, Mr Harnarayan was 102.
In a condolence message issued here today, the Chief Minister said that in his death, the country and the State have lost a great patriot.
The Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed the almighty that the departed soul might rest in peace.
The last rites of Mr Harnarayan were performed today with full State honour at his native village Mohdinpur. The Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Jatusana, Mr Rajender Singh participated in the last rights on behalf of the district administration, and paid tributes to the departed soul. Many of his relations, friends, well wishers and people of the area also bid him a tearful adieu.
Born in 1915, Mr Harnarayan had rubbed his shoulders with Neta Ji Subhas Chandra Bose during the freedom struggle and remained in jails on several occasions during this period. He joined INA in 1937 and retired in 1946. During this period, he showed indomitable courage in Singapore, Malaysia and Germany.
It may be recalled that village Mohdinpur has given seven freedom fighters to the country including Mr Harnarayan.
