    • Chandigarh, September 19–The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said that his government is adopting a multi-pronged strategy to secure a bright future for the people of the state and address their problems by providing all amenities and opportunities for employment and promotion of industry.
    • Speaking at the ‘Janmotsav’ of Swami Satyamitranand Giriji Maharaj in Kurukshetra today, he said that the efforts made by the  government to improve the quality of education in the state, such as conduct of examinations for Classes I to VIII, introduction of ‘Bhagvad Gita’ in the curriculum, and making yoga and cleanliness a part of education, had yielded positive results.
    • After the nation-wide ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign was launched by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, from Panipat, the sex ratio in Haryana improved from 837 girls per 1,000 boys to 914 girls per 1,000 boys in August, 2016. The state government is confident of achieving the target of further improving it to 950 girls per 1,000 boys, he added.
    • The Chief Minister said that his government had enacted  strict laws for the protection and conservation of cows, and remained determined to prevent their slaughter even in the face of stiff opposition. The government is now making efforts to make cow rearing a business activity, he added.                           
    • With a view to celebrating Gita Jayanti in a befitting manner, ‘International-level Gita Jayanti Samaroh’ would be organised in  Kurukshetra from December 6 to 10, 2016. Apart from this, programmes would be held in all districts and 126 blocks. Guests have been invited from across the globe for the event where representatives from 574 districts across the country would reach Kurukshetra chanting ‘shlokas’ delivered by Lord Krishna in the Bhagavd Gita. 
    • The Chief Minister said that the Gita Jayanti Samaroh would form part of the Swaran Jayanti celebrations of the state, which would complete 50 years of inception on November 1, 2016. A grand programme would be organised in Gurgaon that day to mark this occasion.
    • During the Golden Jubilee year, renowned sportspersons would participate in ‘Khel Mahakumbh’, and 50 years of progress of the state would be showcased through cultural programmes at ‘Rashtriya Yuva Mahotsav’. Besides, the state government would also organise functions to mark the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, 300th birth anniversary of Baba Vir Bairagi, 125th birth anniversary of Bhim Rao Ambedkar and 100th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.

    • Lauding the Chief Minister for his exemplary hard work and dedication to serving the people, Swami Satyamitranand Giriji Maharaj urged the people to assist the government in its efforts to ensure welfare of the people, state and the country.

    • Swami Avdheshanand said that everyone should work for the welfare of the people and in the best interests of the country. Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj lauded the state government for its efforts to take the message of the Bhagavd Gita to the masses.

    • The Chief Minister wished Swami Satyamitranand Giriji Maharaj on his 85th birthday and sought his blessings. A two-minute silence was also observed in the memory of the soldiers who were martyred at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir.
