  • CM urged the political parties in the state not to politicize the year-long Swarna Jayanti celebrations of Haryana 3-11-2016

    • Chandigarh, Nov 3—The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has  urged the political parties in the state not to politicize the year-long Swarna Jayanti  celebrations of Haryana which are above and beyond party lines, to ensure progress of the people and all-round development of the state.
    • Mr Manohar Lal said this while addressing a conference of members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), former MLAs, and current and former MPs at Panchkula, near here, today. 
    • The Chief Minister clarified that the budget of Rs 1,700 crore was not meant for the Swarna Jayanti celebrations. It has been earmarked for various development works to be undertaken during the Swarna Jayanti year, between November 1, 2016 and October 31, 2017.
    • The budget could be further raised to Rs 5,000 crore as the state government planned to increase the number of development projects and schemes to be executed during the year. A sum of Rs 7 crore has been spent on the inaugural function of the Swarna Jayanti celebrations organized at Gurugram on November 1, 2016 where the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, launched the celebrations.
    • Referring to the 50 announcements, Mr Manohar Lal said these would be made during the course of the year. "On October 31, I had made 13 big announcements for a cross-section of the people. Apart from this, Mr Modi himself made six announcements at Gurugram, including Automation of Fair Price Shops, which would help in keeping a check on the leakage and black-marketing of wheat", the Chief Minister said.
    • Similarly, on the same day, the Union Railway Minister, Mr Suresh Prabhu, laid the foundation stone of the elevated rail track in Rohtak, which would be the first-of-its-kind railway line in the country.
    • Haryana is forging ahead on the road to development but the contribution made by former Chief Ministers to the growth story of the state could not be forgotten. He referred to the contributions made by Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma, Rao Birender Singh, Ch. Bansi Lal, Mr Banarsi Das Gupta, Master Hukam Singh, Ch. Devi Lal, Mr Bhajan Lal and Mr Om Parkash Chautala.
    • For taking this growth momentum further, the state government has set a target which would have to be achieved with contribution from the people of the state. He held out the assurance that the state government would work with the spirit of Haryana Ek Haryanvi Ek by rising above the consideration of caste and maintaining the spirit of brotherhood.   
    •  Reiterating that the Swarna Jayanti celebrations of Haryana are not a programme of the state government or of any party, he said it was a programme of all the 2.5 crore people of the state. Programmes would be organized throughout the year and all over the state, to mark the celebrations where people who have made outstanding contribution in different walks of life, would be honoured.
    • He urged members of the Legislative Assembly, former MLAs, and current and former MPs to give their suggestions so that these could be incorporated in the list of programmes to be organized during the Swarna Jayanti Year. Programmes would be organized at village, block and sub-division level besides at India Gate in New Delhi and in 12 different cities of the country. Such programmes would also be organized abroad to acquaint the people about the rich culture and tradition of Haryana. Gaurav Pats would be installed in all the 6,500 villages which would also have the names of martyrs from that village imprinted on it. 
    • He said that a Shaheed Samarak is being constructed in Ambala over an area of 25 acres of land. He said that during the year long celebrations, various programmes would be organized. These included Progressive Kisan Sammelan, Sammelan of Non Government Organizations, Mahila Sammelan, Sammelan on Martyrs, Haryana International Film Festival, Ragini Mohatsav, Pashu Mela and Freedom Fighter Sammelan. Besides, programme would be organized in the memory of 50 great personalities of the State.   
    • Speaking on this occasion, the Union Steel Minister, Ch. Birender Singh, said that Haryana had made remarkable progress during the last 50 years with the contribution of its 2.5 crore people. "We cannot progress if we make our political thinking narrow. Collective efforts should be required to make our state achieve great heights in true spirit of the Swarna Jayanti year.
    • "Today, Haryana is a leading state in sports. Haryana is similar to India-a country with diversity, but there is unity", he said. Ch Birender Singh suggested that meetings of the state Assembly should be increased. Apart from an international Convention Centre, an Art Centre, a big museum and ‘Sainik Dwar’ of Haryana should also be set up in the Swarna Jayanti year. 
    • Congratulating the people on this occasion, the Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr Krishan Pal Gurjar, said the conference offered an opportunity to meet old friends, who had contributed to the progress of the state. Haryana got the identity of separate state on November 1, 1966 with great efforts made by the people belonging to all sections of the society.
    •           During the last 50 years, Haryana has emerged as a leading state and is progressing at a fast clip in several fields. All people and leaders of the state have contributed to its development, he added.
    •        The Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Mr Kanwar Pal, said it was a matter of immense pleasure that he, while being the Speaker, got an opportunity to organize this conference of former MPs and former MLAs. This is the 13th Assembly of Haryana, which was formed on November 1, 1966. Until now, as many as 126 sessions were held and 869 sittings were conducted. As many as 1,296 bills have been passed so far and 311 adjournment motions were received out of which 25 were accepted. Besides, 2,143 calling attention motion were received out of which 659 were approved. He lauded the contribution made by former members to the progress of Haryana.
    •         Leader of the Opposition, Mr Abhay Singh Chautala, and Congress MLA Mrs Geeta Bhukkal, also addressed the conference. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, Deputy Speaker Mrs Santosh Yadav, Cabinet Ministers and other MLAs were also present on this occasion.
