The Department of Skill Development and Industrial Training, Haryana is imparting skill-based training to the unemployed youth of the state through network of 172 Govt. Industrial Training Institutes (139 Co-Ed. ITIs & 33 ITIs exclusively for Women) and 242 Private ITI’s under Craftsman Training Scheme. Engineering & Non- Engineering trade courses of one and two years duration are being run in these institutes. During current academic session 2020-21, 77472 sanctioned seats in 3563 trade units are functional in Govt. ITIs and 55432 sanctioned seats in 2647 trade units are functional in Pvt. ITIs of State. During session 2020-21 admissions, 86036 seats were offered for admission (55100 in Govt. ITIs & 30936 in Pvt. ITIs) against which 62623 trainees (45201 in Govt. ITIs & 17422 in Pvt. ITIs) have been admitted to ITIs.
In the year 1966, when Haryana came into being, there was 48 Govt. Industrial Training Institutes with a seating capacity of 7156. Now, there is a total of 414 Govt. & Pvt. Industrial Training Institutes with 129904 sanctioned seats offering courses in 76 different trades. Quality of training in ITIs is being upgraded regularly by improvement in curriculum, training methodology and training of trainers through industry sector council at Govt. of India. New trades are also being introduced as per market demand.
